Kiss Me Kit ~ $20 from Good Fortune

The Kiss Me Kit's edible brown sugar vanilla scrub is delicious enough to devour, but even better yet, it's a great cure for dry, chapped lips. The scrub is vegan and gluten-free and has vitamin E and essential oils to moisturize the ol' kisser.

The kit also includes Stolen Kisses, an equally tasty chocolate peppermint lip balm that heals and soothes lips. Good Fortune donates a portion of profits to Soap for Hope, a program to empower young girls.

Day Six (Tuesday – Home Sweat Home)

For being a half-day, Tuesday sure was a long one! Several potential buyers came back and placed good orders, and Jenn got to exchange goods with surrounding vendors.

Wembe hooked her up with amazing organic fair trade soaps, Eco-Dotz shared a really cool soy candle, Gratiae delivered a beautifying nail kit (along with a sweet kiss on cheek), and finally Jen scored some super cute knickers from Bella Il Fiore. Yeah for new friends!

Unfortunately, the show staff lost all Good Fortune’s boxes rather than storing them, and Jenn sat for more than three hours like Orphan Annie watching everyone else pack. “It felt like the longest day of my life!” she said. “I got lost, waited in lines, waited for boxes, and after I finally packed up, drove four hours home.”

The next few weeks will be absolutely jammed with filling orders, replenishing stock, and… yup! packing boxes. Good Fortune is incredibly blessed and growing. Thank you all for your love, support, and patience!

Day Five (Monday – Jenn Flies Solo)

Jenn ended up being late to the show Monday morning – forgot what a big deal Atlanta traffic can be! Oops! Fortunately, she didn’t seem to be the only one getting a slow start – trade show traffic was significantly thinner. However, by the end of the day, she’d written with several big buyers and was ready for a night out. New friends from WembĂ© and Alliance Packaging Group, neighboring booths, invited her to dinner at Legal Sea Foods in downtown Atlanta – turned out to be a treat!

Day Four (Sunday – Good Fortune Goes International)

Sunday morning, two fantastic ladies from J.J. Springer in British Columbia made a bee-line for the Good Fortune booth. They are in love with the lip scrub, and are proud to be GF’s first international sale! Hooray! Sunday continued to be rewarding: we had so many sales that Jess was sent out to hunt for the copy center located somewhere in the depths of Building One and Jenn got writer’s cramp.

Mom and cousin Sherry made the drive from Athens, TN to see the booth and the trade show. The J’s were grateful for family support and a show of Good Fortune Spirit. Here’s a pic taken by the ladies at Bluebird Bath Products, our neighboring booth.

The family gave Jess a lift back to Chattanooga, leaving Jenn to spend a quiet night alone, blogging and catching up on email.

Day Three (Saturday – Would you like to try our edible lip scrub?)

Today we took a little more aggressive approach: edible lip scrub! Try a massage candle! Have you ever heard of Good Fortune? Apparently, Jess has a little sales phobia, but Jenn’s a great teacher and is quick to step in and rescue a scary situation. We had a great day with a lot of "WOW, my lips feel amazing!" and "a warm body oil that's also a candle? Nice..."

After a great day at the show Jenn went out with her dear friends Chrissy and John, while Jess went back to the hotel for a bath and some quiet time. Jenn was so exhausted after 8 hours in boots and talking all day, but managed to find time for silliness. Chrissy, one of Jen's oldest and best friends surprised her with a late Christmas gift of soap making ponies and a Noah's ark craft project. Just like old times, they relaxed by eating pizza, making crafts, and laughing all night. Even John was feeling the pony love. Atlanta is always so much to visit!

Sunday is our last day selling as a team, so we both need a good nights rest. Sunday...here we come!

Day Two (Friday – Come See Us!)

Friday morning brought a crusting of snow and the adventures of driving in the South in inclement weather. Once inside the trade center, though, we lose all sense of time and weather.

We had two awesome sales on the first day, and tons of enthusiasm. Everyone has been so excited with us about Soap for Hope. One sweet lady said it gave her chills! The Kiss Me Kits caused the biggest buzz of course, but Jenn is a convincing saleswoman, and her passion for soap and people are an unforgettable combination.

Joined by an Atlanta friend, we had girls’ night dinner at the NY Pizza Exchange, a drink at Meehan’s Pub (authentic Irish… they even make their own chips), and a little downtime. Even better luck next day…!

ATL Day One - Settin' Up

Thursday morning, the girls were up way before the sun, taking Jenn’s little Subaru to Atlanta. After a drive to the marshalling yard, we drove back up the highway to the loading dock. “Ralphie,” our friendly parking attendant, gave us a sketchy spot, but hey! It was $10! We came out of the trade center to a gorgeous flurry of snow.

The booth set-up went more smoothly than Vegas – practice makes perfect! This show Jenn made a leafy, net “roof” and added a bamboo rug. The brown drapes accent all her displays beautifully – we’ve had so many compliments on how pretty the booth is.

We ate dinner in an old train car called the Orient Express – yummy pad Thai and tofu curry! Jenn was so excited to sleep in a room with heat – beats the barn any night. A hot bath and a glass of wine made for a good night’s rest so we could power through Day Two.
